MEMORIAL TORCH RELAY 9/5 to 9/11

On Monday September 5, 2005 the Memorial Torch Relay will enter Battalion 14. The torch will be carried by firefighters and community members to all seven stations in the battalion over seven days.

This event will have a staff of approximately two support staff for every runner. The runners will be followed by several fire department apparatus, including a van for tired runners. Water will be provided for runners. We anticipate support from LAPD, CERT, LAFD Explorers, LAFD Support Services Volunteers, and several other community members.

Runners will run as a group with the torch carried at the front of the pack. Runners wishing to carry the torch should notify staff prior to running. LAFD staff will try to accommodate all requests to carry the torch along with photo opportunities.

This has been a labor of love for FF Jason Teter, FS 60-B. Please take the time to thank him for all the work he has done putting this fundraiser on for the construction of the Fallen Firefighters Memorial at the LAFD Museum.
