VIDEO OF DYNAMITE BURN 4/21/06

Shown above is a short video that shows an incident that was more thoroughly covered in a previous post on this site. The video may take a moment to load depending on your internet connection. During that incident a Unified Command consisting of members of the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Los Angeles Police Department and various local agencies, made the decision to burn over 70 sticks of highly unstable dynamite inside a commercial building.

Because the dynamite could not be moved, burning in place was the only option that would eliminate the hazard. As detailed in the previous post, many steps were taken to insure that the mission could be accomplished while limiting damage to the targeted occupancy inside the multi-occupancy commercial building.

The operations of the LAPD SWAT and BOMB SQUAD officers, as well as their commanders, was professional and highly coordinated. The assistance of additional agencies insured that every contingency was addressed. The steps that were taken by the numerous LAFD companies involved to abate the hazard resulted in a highly successful operation.
